Got this photo from a friend.
You know that Matthew's focused on the Lord's work when he loses track of a number sequence. :-)
A couple of fun tidbits that he "forgot to include in previous emails:"
- His first night in Houston, he met a missionary who Alexander beat at arm wrestling in the MTC.
- He found it fun to skip fish like skipping rocks.
This week's email was short, in part because it was late yesterday evening when Matthew was able to write it.
He observed, as have many missionaries before, that "street contacting don't really work. It is a lot more [efficient] to find people through the members.", attributing this in part to it being a fairly affluent area on average.
As typical, Matthew left the MTC short on sleep. He got to bed Sunday night around 11:30, but was awakened by farewells for other missionaries -- who were, unfortunately, departing at 2:30 AM.
Matthew's soliciting more interesting subject lines...
Today was Matthew's P-Day.
it has only been a couple of days since you saw me last, but I decided to email home anyway.
Matthew, Alexander, William & I (Dad) were up at 4AM to take Matthew to PDX.
Matthew started his at-home missionary training this morning. He gets to spend a little over a week here learning remotely, before flying out on Sep 8th to spend two weeks at the Provo MTC.
This afternoon, Matthew was set apart as a full-time missionary.
After coming home, we spent the evening outside.
Matthew received his mission call today!
He is being assigned to the Texas Houston East Mission.
